Silver Striders
Silver Striders is a free program to seniors held every 2nd and 4th tuesday of the month from 10:00 to 11:30 Am. Participants get free access to the Y to walk, play games and do activities as well as get free blood pressure checks. Each day the participants attend they recieve an entry to win prizes. Y’s Celebrity Night of Basketball October 19th
Make plans now to attend the Y’s annual Celebrity Night of Basketball on Saturday October 19th. Four big games are on tap, starting with a boys 5th grade game at 5 pm, followed by a girls 5th grade game at 6 pm. At 7 pm, the Indiana State Police take patrol of the court to battle the Y’s All Stars followed by the 8 pm match-up between the Y’s Super Stars against the Coaches of Randolph County. All games will be held at the Winchester Field House. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is only $3 for adults, $2 for students while children 6 and under get in free.
Amazing Race
Randolph County’s Amazing Race returns for its 9th year on Saturday,
September 14th. Visit our great Randolph County communities while facing the challenging tasks that make the Amazing Race fun for the entire family.Registration runs August 5th thru September 12th. Forms are available at the Y front desk or by contacting Tom at tom.byrum@comcast.net
Halloween 5K Run/Walk to Aid the Gas Help Fund at the Winchester Speedway (Night Time Run on Oct. 26)
Come and enjoy our annual 5K run/walk to aid the Gas Help Fund while experiencing the “high banks” of the Winchester Speedway. Both races will begin and end on this world famous track. Registration begins September 16th. Registrations the day of this event take place from 6-6:55 pm with both races starting at 7 pm. Costumes are optional with awards going to the best costumed runner & walker. Awards will also be given to the top finishers in each race with age division awards in the 5K run.
YMCAutumn Fest October 24th
Everyone invited to bring the family to our Autumnfest (formerly Halloween at the Y) on Thursday October 124h from 6-8 p.m. at the Y. A costume contest will take place at 7 pm (please no scary costumes). Admission is free.
Corporate Challenge
A summer full of fun, that’s what the Y’s annual Corporate Challenge brings to our community. Events such as Euchre, Kick Ball, Whiffleball, Horseshoes, and Raft Race are just a few of the fun events planned that begin in early June, ending in early August. Small businesses as well as big corporations are all invited to participate in the YMCA Corporate Challenge.
Church Challenge
Mark your calendars for January. That is when is will again be time to sign up for the fun and fellowship that make our annual Church Challenge such a great event. Event registration will be available at your church. If your church does not have the information but is interested, have your pastor contact Tom at 765-584-9622 or by email at tom.byrum@comcast.net. The fun begins in early February with the final events taking place in mid-March. Events include Team Bowling, Bible Bowl, Volleyball and much more for the entire family.
Family Weekend in the Park - Note: This event will be joining with the activities associated with the Mom, Baseball and Apple Pie Festival in 2013. Watch for upcoming information regarding dates/times/location.
YMCA Golf Open
The Randolph County YMCA will hold its 15th annual “YMCA Open” golf tournament on Sunday, July 21st at the Winchester Golf Club. A 1:00 p.m. shotgun start will kick off a day of fun and excitement for all. The YMCA Open features a scramble format for teams of four, with prizes given out to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 9th & 13th places. Special “Hole in One” prizes are also available on the par 3’s with the top prize being a new car from American Chevrolet Cadillac. Prizes are also available for the longest drive by female & male, closest to the pin and for the last place team.
7th Annual Golf Ball Drop
The Y's 7th Annual Golf Ball Drop will be held on Sunday July 21st, at 12:30 p.m. prior to our Y Golf Open. Golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter on the Winchester Golf Club's practice area and if the golf ball you purchased is the lucky one, you could win up to $500!. Five prize winners will be awarded, including the golf ball that lands closest to the target as well as the one landing the farthest away. Tickets will be sold throughout Randolph County beginning in June, selling right up to the moment prior to the helicopter's lift-off. You do not have to be present to win. All proceeds benefit YMCA Youth Programs.
